Agartala: On the auspicious occasion of the Tirodhan Divas (Ascension Day) of Sri Sri Jai Baba Lokenath, a wave of intense spiritual fervor swept across Tripura on Wednesday (19th Jaistha). Mirroring global celebrations, a multitude of religious programs and special prayer services were organized throughout the state to honor the 19th-century saint.
The central hub of the day’s spiritual activity was the prominent Lokenath Temple in Agartala. From the early hours of dawn, the temple premises witnessed an overwhelming rush of devotees. Men, women, and children stood patiently in serpentine queues, carrying offerings of fruits, white flowers, and traditional sweets to seek the blessings of Baba Lokenath.
Special rituals, including the Maha Arati, bhajan recitations, and the distribution of mahaprasad, were meticulously conducted by the temple committee to accommodate the massive turnout. Voluntary organizations and local youth clubs also set up help desks and water booths near the temple complex to assist the visiting pilgrims. Similar commemorative events, community feasts, and spiritual discourses were reported from various sub-divisions, underscoring the deep-seated reverence for Baba Lokenath’s timeless message of peace and human welfare.
