Agartala:Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Asish Kumar Saha on Wednesday announced that the Congress party would contest the upcoming Village Committee elections independently, without entering into any alliance with other political parties.
Speaking to the media, Saha said the party’s central leadership and state unit had collectively decided to go solo in the elections, asserting confidence in the organisation’s grassroots strength across the state. He stated that Congress workers at the village level have been working consistently among the people, and the party was well-prepared to take on its rivals on its own.
Responding to questions on possible alliances, the TPCC chief made it clear that there were no plans for any seat-sharing arrangement or coalition for the Village Committee polls, adding that the party wished to gauge its independent strength through this electoral exercise.
Saha further alleged that the ruling party had failed to deliver on its promises of development and welfare at the grassroots level, and expressed hope that voters would extend their support to the Congress in the upcoming elections.
He urged party workers across the state to intensify campaigning and reach out to voters at the booth level to ensure a strong performance in the polls.
