Agartala : Pradesh Congress on Thursday held a demonstration and protest march demanding a thorough investigation into the unnatural death of Tripura Police Director General Anurag Dhankar.
The march began from in front of Congress Bhawan, with party workers and leaders taking part in large numbers. Proceeding through the town, the demonstrators reached the Fire Service point, where a protest meeting was subsequently held.
Addressing the gathering, Congress leaders demanded that the state government ensure a fair and transparent probe into the circumstances surrounding the DG’s death, asserting that the matter could not be allowed to remain unresolved or be brushed aside.
The protest reflects growing concern within opposition ranks over the handling of the case, with Congress workers raising slogans against the state administration during the march. Party leaders reiterated their demand that those responsible, if any lapse or foul play is established, be held accountable.
The demonstration passed off peacefully, with police maintaining a watch along the route taken by the marchers.
