AGARTALA: Chief Minister Manik Saha on Monday announced a 30-acre cricket academy to be developed at Sekerkot, in a push to strengthen sporting infrastructure in Tripura. The facility is expected to provide dedicated training grounds and coaching facilities for young cricketers across the state, part of the government’s broader effort to nurture sporting talent at the grassroots level.
In another major development, the Howrah Riverfront Development Project in Agartala is set to open to the public on September 22. The project, developed along the banks of the Howrah River, is aimed at transforming the riverside into a recreational and civic space for residents, with walkways, green spaces, and public amenities designed to enhance urban living in the capital city.
Officials said the two initiatives reflect the government’s continuing focus on infrastructure development, spanning both sports and urban rejuvenation. Further details on the academy’s construction timeline and the riverfront’s inaugural events are expected to be announced in the coming days.
