Agartala: Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha will lay the foundation stone of the Agartala Government Eye Hospital at the Capital Complex here at 1:00 PM today, marking a significant step towards strengthening specialised eye-care infrastructure in the state.
The proposed hospital is expected to serve as a dedicated facility for ophthalmic treatment, catering to patients across Tripura who currently depend on limited specialised eye-care services within the state or are compelled to travel outside for advanced treatment. Health officials said the new hospital aims to bridge this gap by offering comprehensive diagnostic and surgical facilities under one roof.
The foundation stone laying ceremony is expected to be attended by senior health department officials, medical professionals, and other dignitaries, alongside members of the public.
The initiative reflects the state government’s continuing focus on upgrading healthcare infrastructure, particularly in specialised medical services, as part of its broader development agenda for the health sector. Officials noted that the project is anticipated to significantly improve accessibility to quality eye-care treatment for residents of the capital city and surrounding areas.
