AGARTALA: Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha on Saturday chaired a high-level review meeting at the TIFT conference hall to assess and strengthen the state’s preparedness for potential waterlogging and flood situations during the ongoing monsoon season.
The meeting undertook a detailed review of flood-mitigation measures and precautionary arrangements across the state, including in the Agartala Municipal Corporation area, which has in past years faced significant waterlogging during heavy rainfall.
Officials at the meeting placed particular emphasis on strengthening inter-departmental coordination, ensuring early warning systems remain fully functional, and enabling swift, effective response mechanisms in the event of an emergency.
Speaking at the meeting, the Chief Minister said ensuring the safety of citizens’ lives and property during the monsoon season remains the government’s topmost priority. He directed the administration to remain in a state of constant preparedness to handle any eventuality, while maintaining close coordination among all concerned departments and agencies.
Dr. Saha also underlined the need to ensure comprehensive preparedness on all fronts, including measures to address waterlogging as well as rescue and relief operations, should the situation demand.
The review comes amid concerns over recurring monsoon-related flooding and river erosion in parts of the state, including Tripura’s low-lying and riverine areas, in recent years.
