AGARTALA: A gold chain was allegedly snatched from a businessman in the presence of police personnel in the Town Pratapgarh area, even as officers were reportedly visiting the site of a petrol bomb attack that had occurred a month earlier, according to local claims.
Two unidentified snatchers allegedly made off with the chain despite the police presence at the scene, sources said. The incident has reportedly raised questions among residents over the state of law and order in the area.
Upon receiving news of the incident, leaders of the CPI(M) East Agartala Area Committee, including Amal Chakraborty, along with other party members, reportedly rushed to the spot.
Locals have questioned the delay in police response to the earlier petrol bomb attack, allegedly reported a month ago, as well as the apparent failure to prevent the chain-snatching despite police presence at the site.
