Amid allegations of financial irregularities, the Maharanipur incident in Teliamura has taken a new turn. Block Development Officer (BDO) Biplab Acharya has now filed a written complaint at Teliamura Police Station, alleging forgery of an official government seal and signature.
According to the complaint, Jhuma Chowdhury, a bookkeeper with the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) and a resident of Maharanipur, has been accused of forging and using the Teliamura BDO’s official seal and signature. Once the matter came to the administration’s notice, the authorities concerned moved to take legal action.
Police sources said the complaint has been accepted and a preliminary investigation has begun. Necessary documents are being examined to verify the allegations. Officials associated with the probe said appropriate legal action will be taken in the next stage of the investigation.
It may be noted that the accused, Jhuma Chowdhury, has previously faced allegations of financial irregularities as well. However, those allegations also remain under investigation and have not been proven in court.
No response has been received from the accused, Jhuma Chowdhury, regarding this incident. Her statement, if received, will be published with due importance.
The administration has clarified that filing of a complaint does not amount to proof of guilt. Guilt or innocence will be determined only after the investigation concludes and based on the final verdict of the court.
