AGARTALA: The Tripura Working Journalists’ Association (TWJA) organised a blood donation camp along with a special session of its West District Committee at Agartala Press Club on Sunday, drawing participation from senior political and media figures.

Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha attended the event as the chief guest, lauding the journalist community for combining social service with professional advocacy. Sandhan magazine editor Subal Kumar Dey and Minister Sushanta Chowdhury were also present among other dignitaries, along with senior journalists and TWJA office-bearers.

The blood donation camp saw enthusiastic participation from journalists and press club members, who came forward to donate blood in a bid to support local blood banks amid recurring shortages. Health officials from a nearby hospital reportedly coordinated the collection drive.

Following the camp, the West District Committee of TWJA convened its special session, during which members discussed issues concerning the welfare of working journalists in the region, including professional security, wage-related concerns, and press freedom.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Saha reaffirmed his government’s commitment to supporting media professionals and reiterated the importance of a free and responsible press in a healthy democracy.

The event concluded with TWJA leaders thanking all donors and dignitaries for their participation and support.
