Bihar : Two 15-year-old Class 10 students — a boy and a girl — were allegedly harassed and molested by a group of men on a roadside in Bihar’s Jamui district on Saturday evening, in an incident that sparked widespread outrage after video of the assault went viral on social media.
The video, filmed by six to seven men, showed the pair being stopped while riding a two-wheeler and questioned about their relationship. One man is seen slapping the boy and demanding the teenagers call their families, while the girl was harassed and groped as she pleaded to be let go.
Three accused, themselves minors, were identified from the footage and apprehended within hours of it circulating. A separate suspect, Hareram Yadav, was arrested in connection with the case and produced before a special POCSO court on Wednesday, where he was sent to judicial custody.
The incident has drawn sharp political reaction, with opposition leaders, including Congress’s Rahul Gandhi, condemning the assault and questioning the Bihar government over women’s safety in public spaces. The case has also renewed scrutiny of moral-policing attitudes in the state, with women’s groups demanding stronger protective action.
