Agartala: The Tripura Commission for Protection of Child Rights organized an awareness programme on child abuse, child marriage, and child labour at Agartala Boys’ Bodhjung Higher Secondary School, aimed at educating students on their rights and the legal protections available to them.
Tripura Commission for Protection of Child Rights Chairperson Jayanti Debbarma attended the event, along with Headmaster Malay Bhowmik and a large gathering of students from the school.
During the programme, Chairperson Debbarma addressed the students, highlighting the importance of recognizing and reporting child abuse, the legal and social consequences of child marriage, and the harmful effects of child labour on a child’s development and future. She urged students to remain vigilant about their rights and to speak up against any form of exploitation or abuse they may witness or experience.
Headmaster Malay Bhowmik welcomed the initiative, noting that such awareness sessions play a crucial role in equipping young students with the knowledge needed to protect themselves and their peers.
The programme is part of the Commission’s ongoing efforts to spread awareness about child rights across educational institutions in the state, with officials emphasizing the need for continued engagement with schools to combat social issues affecting children in Tripura.
Students actively participated in the interactive session, asking questions and engaging with the officials on the issues discussed.
