RAJNAGAR: A massive python measuring between 10 to 12 feet in length was rescued from a paddy field in the Jalapathar area under the Rajnagar assembly constituency on Friday morning, triggering widespread panic and excitement among locals.
The incident occurred when Bikram Das, a local farmer, went to his field to apply pesticide. He was shocked when he accidentally stepped on the giant reptile hidden among the crops. Hearing his cries, nearby villagers rushed to the spot. While the sighting sent a wave of panic through some residents, crowds of curious onlookers gathered near the field to catch a glimpse of the snake.
The villagers promptly alerted the officials at the nearby Trishna Wildlife Sanctuary. Responding swiftly to the call, a team of forest personnel led by Officer Sukanta Sarkar arrived at the Jalapathar paddy field.
Following a careful operation, the forest department workers successfully captured the python without causing it any harm. According to official sources, the rescued python was later taken deep into the Bison National Park and safely released back into its natural habitat. Forest officials have urged residents to remain vigilant but avoid harming wildlife.
