Electricity Consumers and Employees Welfare Association to Stage Protest Outside TSECL Office Today

Agartala: The Electricity Consumers and Employees Welfare Association (ECEWA) will stage a sit-in demonstration outside the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) corporate office at Bhuturia today at 5:00 PM.

The demonstration aims to draw public and administrative attention to a list of long-standing grievances shared by both utility workers and general consumers across the state. In an official press statement, ECEWA Secretary Nataraj Datta called upon the media fraternity to cover the demonstration, which is expected to see a significant turnout of employees and local power consumers.

According to union sources, the protest will target recent billing anomalies, frequent undeclared power outages, and infrastructural deficiencies affecting consumers. Simultaneously, the association is raising structural issues faced by TSECL contract workers and staff, including demands for improved service regulations, workplace safety protocols, and the timely regularisation of eligible employees.

Association leaders stated that repeated administrative representations have failed to yield substantial results, compelling them to hit the streets. The ECEWA warned that if TSECL management does not address their charter of demands promptly, they will escalate their democratic agitation in the coming days.
