AGARTALA: Left-wing labor organizations hit the streets of Agartala on Monday, launching a fierce protest rally against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government over skyrocketing prices of essential commodities.
The demonstration commenced from the Melarmath area and culminated in a massive street-corner meeting at Shakuntala Road. Protesters chanted slogans, accusing the government of systematically exploiting the common public through unbridled inflation.
Addressing the gathering, Left labor leader Ratan Das slammed the administration, alleging that the state is actively competing with the rest of the country in inflating the costs of daily essentials. “Is it even possible for prices to stay stable under this government? Exploiting the public is their grand plan,” Das stated.
The protestors highlighted the severe financial strain inflicted on the working class by the soaring costs of electricity, natural gas, and fuel oil. Leaders contrasted the plight of the common citizens with the lifestyle of politicians. “Where will ordinary people go? Ministers face no hardships while making millions every month,” a union representative remarked.
Senior leader Manik Dey, along with several other top frontliners, attended the rally, demanding immediate government intervention to cap utility rates and provide relief to the public.
