CANNABIS SEIZED IN SONAMURA POLICE RAID; DRUG PEDDLER FLEES

SONAMURA: Operating on a tip-off, Sonamura police conducted a successful raid at a house in Durgapur Ward No. 6, recovering a substantial haul of 21.07 kg of dry cannabis (ganja).

According to police sources, the contraband was meticulously packed into ten separate packets wrapped in black cello tape and hidden inside two large sacks. Alongside the narcotics, law enforcement officials seized a red Maruti Suzuki Brezza private car (registration number TR-03S-0356), the suspect’s mobile phone, and several incriminating documents from the premises.

However, the suspected drug peddler managed to evade arrest, fleeing the scene just moments before the police team arrived, reportedly after being tipped off about the impending raid.

A formal case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at the Sonamura Police Station. Investigating officers revealed that the ongoing probe has already unearthed crucial intelligence regarding local drug networks. Authorities stated that they are hot on the trail of the absconding suspect and anticipate making several more arrests from the area in the coming days as the crackdown intensifies.
