The Saudi-led international coalition fighting Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels stated on Sunday that an unidentified projectile hit a passenger terminal at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. This fresh strike occurred less than a day after a deadly missile attack at the facility resulted in the deaths of 12 people.
Coalition spokesman Major General Turki al-Malki confirmed that the projectile struck Terminal 4 at the international airport, causing a fire. In addition to the terminal strike, Saudi air defenses successfully intercepted and destroyed a cruise missile in the immediate vicinity of the airport.
The sharp escalation along this front in the broader regional conflict threatens to draw in greater U.S. military involvement, as President Donald Trump indicated he is weighing joining the fight against the Houthi rebels.
