India advises citizens in Saudi Arabia to remain vigilant amid regional tensions

The Indian Embassy in Riyadh has issued an advisory asking Indian nationals in Saudi Arabia to remain alert and exercise caution amid the evolving security situation in the region.

In the advisory, the embassy urged Indian citizens to stay “alert and vigilant”, closely follow instructions issued by Saudi authorities, and remain indoors whenever necessary. The mission also cautioned residents against circulating or sharing unverified videos, messages or news related to ongoing developments, stressing the importance of relying only on official sources for information.

The advisory comes at a time of heightened tensions in West Asia, with concerns over regional security and potential disruptions affecting several countries in the Gulf. While Saudi authorities have not announced any nationwide emergency measures, embassies and foreign missions have been closely monitoring developments and issuing precautionary guidance to their citizens.

Saudi Arabia is home to one of the largest Indian expatriate communities in the world, with millions of Indians living and working across the kingdom in sectors ranging from construction and healthcare to information technology and finance. Given the size of the Indian diaspora, Indian diplomatic missions routinely issue safety advisories whenever regional security conditions warrant additional caution.

The embassy advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel to sensitive areas, stay updated through official announcements, and ensure that their contact details with Indian missions are current. Emergency contact channels have also reportedly been kept active to assist nationals in case of urgent requirements.

Officials emphasised that the advisory is precautionary in nature and is intended to help citizens remain prepared rather than create alarm. The embassy said it is in close contact with Saudi authorities and continues to monitor the situation.

The latest advisory highlights India’s focus on the welfare and safety of its overseas citizens. New Delhi has repeatedly stated that protecting Indian nationals abroad remains a priority, especially during periods of geopolitical uncertainty.

For now, Indian citizens in Saudi Arabia have been asked to remain calm, stay informed through verified sources, and follow guidance issued by local authorities and the Indian Embassy.
