AGARTALA: Five BJP workers were allegedly injured in an attack blamed on Tipra Motha supporters at Noapara, under the Kaichhakhola village area of Dhanpur, party sources said on 19.09.2026.
According to local accounts, the workers sustained injuries in the incident, prompting a tense situation in the area. BJP leaders alleged that Tipra Motha cadres were behind the attack, though the claim could not be independently verified.
The incident comes amid a string of similar flare-ups reported across Tripura in the run-up to the September 28 Village Committee elections, despite the BJP and Tipra Motha contesting the polls together as part of the ruling NDA alliance. Grassroots tensions between the two parties have surfaced in several constituencies in recent weeks, with workers on both sides accusing each other of intimidation and violence, even as their state leaderships maintain a formal seat-sharing arrangement.
Police have not yet issued an official statement on the Dhanpur incident. The situation in Noapara remained tense at the time of filing.
