TELIAMURA: A section of a rubber plantation boundary on ancestral land belonging to Patal Kanya Jamatia, former president of the BJP’s state committee, was allegedly damaged by miscreants in the Wathilong area under Kalyanpur police station, Teliamura subdivision, triggering unease over property security in the locality.
The property had reportedly lain unused for nearly 21 years before a plantation was recently raised on it. According to the complaint, unidentified persons cut and damaged a portion of the plantation’s boundary, sparking concern once the matter came to light.
On being informed, Jamatia rushed to the spot and personally inspected the damaged sections. She alleged that the boundary had been deliberately cut to cause damage, voicing concern that such an incident occurred soon after work resumed on the long-dormant property.
Jamatia said Kalyanpur police station had already been informed of the incident and stressed that a proper investigation was needed to identify those responsible.
The identity of the culprits and the motive behind the act remain unclear at this stage. Police are expected to probe the complaint, which may bring further clarity on the incident.
