AGARTALA: The stretch of road from GB to Nandannagar continues to witness persistent traffic congestion, according to residents and daily commuters.
The issue drew renewed attention after a fatal car accident occurred on the stretch between Don Bosco School and Auxilium School, in which one person reportedly died.
A pedestrian who regularly uses the road alleged that roadside shops in front of the schools — particularly vegetable vendors — contribute significantly to the congestion, as informal encroachment along the roadside narrows the usable carriageway during peak hours.
Commuters said the congestion has become a near-daily occurrence, raising concerns over road safety along the stretch, especially given its proximity to two schools.
Local authorities have not yet issued a statement on the matter. Residents have called for measures to regulate roadside vending and manage traffic flow along the road.
