Khowai: An unidentified man was found dead near a bridge adjacent to the BJP district office in the Lalchhara area of Khowai on Sunday, triggering a stir in the locality.
Local residents first spotted the body lying near the bridge, and word of the incident quickly spread, drawing a crowd to the spot. Police were subsequently informed and reached the location soon after.
According to police and local sources, the deceased appeared to be of a vagrant nature and had reportedly been seen wandering in the area for some time. However, his identity is yet to be established.
The body was recovered by police and sent to the morgue for post-mortem examination. The exact cause and circumstances of the man’s death remain unclear at this stage.
Police said a detailed investigation has been launched to ascertain how the incident occurred and whether it involved any foul play. Efforts are also underway to identify the deceased, with authorities appealing to the public for any information that could help establish his identity.
