AGARTALA: The Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) held an important meeting on Wednesday to finalise preparations ahead of the upcoming Durga Puja, focusing on cleanliness, street lighting, and ward-level staffing across the city.
Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumder chaired the meeting, which was attended by corporators and senior AMC officials. Discussions centred on ensuring civic cleanliness is maintained throughout municipal areas during the festive season, along with adequate street lighting arrangements in all wards.
It was decided that additional personnel would be engaged in each ward to support puja-related civic management, including sanitation and upkeep of public spaces, ahead of the festivities.
Officials said the initiative aims to ensure a clean, well-lit, and well-managed city during Durga Puja, one of the biggest festivals in the region, which draws large crowds to pandals across Agartala.
The AMC is expected to issue further directives to wards in the coming days as part of its festive preparedness drive, with corporators tasked with overseeing implementation in their respective areas.
