Dharmanagar Medicine Trader Alleges Severe Harassment, Debarghya Bhowmik Petitions CM for Urgent Intervention

Dharmanagar: In a development that has sent shockwaves through the local business community, serious allegations of systematic harassment have emerged from a prominent medicine trader operating in Dharmanagar. Seeking immediate safety and legal recourse, well-known social activist and youth leader Debarghya Bhowmik has formally approached Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, requesting urgent state intervention to protect the trader’s life and livelihood.

The issue escalated after the local pharmaceutical business owner reported facing continuous intimidation, extortion threats, and undue operational interference from influential local miscreants. This climate of fear has made running the essential pharmacy service virtually impossible, posing an existential threat to his family’s survival.

Taking up the mantle, Bhowmik dispatched an official memorandum to the Chief Minister’s office, highlighting the deteriorating law-and-order situation faced by honest merchants in the North Tripura district. Bhowmik emphasized that the local economy depends heavily on traders who must operate without fear of physical harm or financial blackmail. The petition urges the government to direct local law enforcement to take immediate punitive action against the perpetrators and guarantee a secure environment for trade and commerce to flourish safely.
