Ranendra Sangma Memorial U-19 Inter-School Football Tournament Inaugurated in Agartala

AGARTALA: The Ranendra Sangma Memorial Under-19 Inter-School Football Tournament was formally inaugurated on Tuesday, organised by St. Paul’s School, A.D. Nagar, with the aim of nurturing young footballing talent and boosting interest in the sport at the inter-school level.

MLA and Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Deepak Majumder formally inaugurated the tournament. Ward No. 40 Councillor Shashpa Sarkar Chowdhury, St. Paul’s School authorities, and other dignitaries were also present at the event.

Organisers said 12 school teams are taking part in this year’s edition, with enthusiasm already building among players and football enthusiasts ahead of the competition.

The champion team will be awarded a trophy along with a cash prize of Rs 15,000, while the runners-up will receive a trophy and Rs 10,000. Several other attractive prizes are also on offer for participants.

The tournament final is scheduled for September 17, a fixture that has already generated considerable interest among football lovers in the city.

Organisers noted that such inter-school competitions play an important role in encouraging young players to pursue the sport and offer talented footballers a platform to showcase their skills in a competitive setting.
