Agartala: The 72-hour bandh called by surrendered militant organisations continued unabated on Friday, even after an administrative meeting was held in the presence of West Tripura District Magistrate Vishal Kumar, the Superintendent of Police and the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) to discuss the ongoing agitation.
Following the meeting, DM Vishal Kumar briefed the media on the details of the discussions held with representatives linked to the bandh call. Despite the talks, the blockade at various points across the district, including the national highway, remained in force, with normal life continuing to be disrupted.
The bandh, called in support of a three-point demand relating to implementation of promises earlier made to surrendered militant groups, has affected road and rail traffic since Friday morning. Commuters and transport operators have faced significant hardship as a result of the prolonged disruption.
Officials indicated that efforts were on to resolve the impasse through further dialogue, though no immediate breakthrough was reported following Friday’s meeting. The administration is expected to continue engaging with the concerned parties in the hope of securing an early withdrawal of the blockade and restoring normalcy across the affected areas.
