Villagers Threaten Poll Boycott Over Dilapidated Road in Jolaibari

Jolaibari: The kutcha road connecting Charampai Para and Madhula Sardar Para under Jolaibari Assembly Constituency has turned into a quagmire with the onset of monsoon, causing severe hardship to local residents and commuters.

Locals allege that rainwater accumulation has created mud and large potholes across several stretches of the road, forcing people to travel at considerable risk every day. Students, elderly persons and patients requiring medical attention are among those worst affected by the poor condition of the thoroughfare.

Villagers said the matter has been repeatedly brought to the notice of the concerned authorities over the years, but no permanent solution has been implemented so far. They alleged that the road turns particularly hazardous during the monsoon season, forcing residents to wade through mud and slush on a daily basis.

Expressing mounting frustration over the prolonged neglect, a section of villagers has warned of boycotting the upcoming polls if the road is not repaired soon.

Local residents have urged the Jolaibari block administration and other concerned authorities to take up the matter on priority and undertake immediate repair work, so that the long-pending suffering of commuters in the area can finally be addressed.
