Agartala : A delegation approached the State Election Commission on Wednesday, submitting a deputation demanding that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process for voter list revision be initiated immediately after the upcoming Village Committee elections conclude.
The delegation included MP Rajiv Bhattacharjee, Bipin Debbarma, and other leaders, who argued that the SIR process is crucial for revising and refining the electoral rolls and should be taken up promptly once the Village Committee polls are over.
During the deputation, the delegation raised several key points before the Commission, including the accurate inclusion of genuine voters’ names, necessary verification of ineligible or absent voters, and the need to maintain overall transparency in the electoral rolls.
The delegation expressed hope that the Election Commission would consider their demands seriously and take appropriate steps to launch the SIR process following the polls.
The deputation drew significant attention in political circles at the Election Commission premises, with the timing of the SIR process ahead of upcoming elections seen as a matter of considerable political interest.
