Special Voter List Revision (SIR) in Sonamura from Sept 5

SONAMURA: In a bid to ensure a completely error-free, transparent, and accurate electoral roll, the Sub-Divisional Administration of Sonamura is set to launch the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 from September 5, aligning with the state-wide rollout.

To brief the public on the revision phases, deadlines, and voter responsibilities, the Sonamura Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) chaired a press conference here today. The SDM highlighted that the most critical phase of the intensive drive will commence on September 15 and run through October 14, 2026.

During this month-long period, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct mandatory door-to-door visits across the subdivision to verify existing data. BLOs will collect Form 6 alongside self-declaration documents to register new eligible citizens who have turned 18. Additionally, the drive will rectify clerical errors in names, ages, and addresses, link family records, and permanently remove the names of deceased or relocated citizens to eliminate duplicates.

The administration has urged all residents to cooperate with visiting officials to ensure absolute transparency. Following the completion of verification and hearing processes, the finalized, error-free voter list will be officially published on December 23, 2026.
