AGARTALA: The All India Kisan Sabha held its 22nd Tripura State Conference at Agartala Town Hall, drawing a large turnout of farmers and party workers from across the state, followed by a massive public rally at Vivekananda Maidan.
The conference was attended by CPI(M) leaders Pabitra Kar and Jitendra Chowdhury, along with the organisation’s central leader Hannan Mollah, besides other senior functionaries. Delegates from various districts and subdivisions took part, discussing issues affecting farmers, agricultural policy, and the future course of the farmers’ movement, along with plans for upcoming programmes to strengthen the organisation.
Following the conference, thousands gathered at Vivekananda Maidan for a public rally attended by farmers, working people and party supporters from across the state. Speakers at the rally raised demands including fair prices for agricultural produce, government agricultural policy, and issues affecting farmers’ livelihoods, while calling for the farmers’ movement to be further strengthened and unified.
The conference and rally underscored a renewed push by the Left-backed farmers’ body to build a broader movement around agrarian demands and rights in the days ahead.
