Child Labor Raid: Fast-Food Shop Seized in Shibnagar Joint Operation

AGARTALA: In a swift crackdown on child labor exploitation, a joint task force comprising the state Labour Department and the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) conducted a surprise raid at a popular fast-food outlet in the Shibnagar area. The targeted operation led to the immediate rescue of a young minor child who was being forced to work under exploitative conditions by the establishment’s owner.

The high-stakes rescue mission was led directly by Binay Bhushan Das, the Joint Commissioner of the Labour Department. Acting on credible intelligence regarding the routine employment of children in the commercial hub, the joint enforcement team caught the shop owner red-handed as the young child was actively performing manual chores in the kitchen.

Following the raid, the rescued child was placed under the immediate care of welfare officials for medical examination, psychological counseling, and eventual rehabilitation. Speaking to reporters at the scene, Joint Commissioner Binay Bhushan Das issued a stern warning to commercial establishments, emphasizing that child labor is a punishable criminal offense under the law. Strict legal proceedings are being initiated against the erring shop owner under the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act.
