AGARTALA: Along with the rest of the nation, World Environment Day was observed across Tripura with a renewed focus on ecological conservation. To mark 12 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the state has integrated the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative into its green campaign. This year, the administration is shifting its strategy from merely planting saplings in large numbers to ensuring their long-term care and survival.
As part of the statewide celebrations, extensive tree plantation drives were organized across various wards under the Ramnagar Mandal. In Ward No. 35, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor and Ramnagar MLA Dipak Majumder led the campaign alongside Corporator Tushar Kanti Bhattacharjee. Concurrently, Ramnagar Mandal President Amitabh Bhattacharjee spearheaded a drive at Booth No. 7 in Ward No. 14, accompanied by Corporator Snigdha Das Deb and former Mandal President Tapas Kumar Dev.
Addressing the gatherings, the dignitaries stressed that planting trees is the most effective weapon against climate change. They urged citizens to adopt a parental role toward the newly planted saplings to guarantee their growth, emphasizing that a greener planet is essential to keep the environment livable for future generations.
