Kailashahar : Kailashahar witnessed fresh tension on Friday as the Unakoti District Congress organised a protest march and road blockade against private power service provider Sai Computers Limited, alleging prolonged load-shedding and excessive electricity bills. The march, which began from the District Congress office around 3 pm, proceeded through the town before reaching the company’s office near the old motor stand, where workers blocked the road and raised slogans against the Power Minister, Sai Computers, and the BJP.
District Congress president Badruzzaman alleged that power disruptions lasting hours, both day and night, were severely affecting drinking water supply, business, education and daily life, worsened by the intense heat. He said many consumers were receiving abnormally high bills, with complaints to the company’s local office often going unresolved.
The protesters demanded that Sai Computers Limited be immediately removed from managing power distribution in Kailashahar, and that the responsibility be handed back to the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL). Congress leaders accused the state government of favouring the private company at the cost of consumers, warning of a larger agitation if the issues remain unresolved.
