MOHANPUR: A government school in Lembuchhara under the Lefunga Inspector of Schools’ jurisdiction is battling severe infrastructural and staffing deficits, prompting its headmaster to publicly demand intervention from the authorities.
Shambhu Chandra Para Senior Basic School, which requires eight teachers as per norms, is currently functioning with only four. The shortfall has forced teachers to combine multiple classes into single sessions, disrupting the academic schedule and affecting students’ learning outcomes, school authorities said.
Compounding the problem, the school has no toilet facility, leaving students—particularly girls—without access to basic sanitation. The absence of a boundary wall has also left the campus exposed, with stray cattle and goats frequently entering the premises and gathering near classrooms, creating unhygienic conditions for students.
Headmaster Jayanta Debbarma raised the issues before the media, urging the concerned department to take swift action to address the staffing gap and infrastructural deficiencies.
The school’s condition reflects broader concerns over infrastructure and staffing shortages affecting rural educational institutions in the region.
