LEFUNGA: A daring theft was reported from a house in Lefunga Wasika area, under Lefunga police station, after burglars struck while the family was away, causing widespread concern in the locality.
According to homeowner Shiba Debbarma, the thieves took advantage of the family’s absence to break into the house and make off with two gas cylinders, an inverter, and 50 brass “pasra” utensils that the family had received as wedding gifts.
Speaking to the media, Debbarma said suspicion in the case has fallen on a local individual identified as Samir Debbarma. He said the stolen items held both monetary and sentimental value for the family, given that many of the utensils were wedding presents.
News of the theft spread quickly through the area, with residents expressing concern over the rising incidence of such burglaries in the locality. Debbarma said a complaint would be, or has been, lodged with Lefunga police station seeking swift action against those responsible.
Police are yet to comment on the matter. Local residents have called for increased vigilance and patrolling in the area to prevent similar incidents in the future.
