TYF Submits Deputation Over Eviction of Tribal Vendors in Nandannagar

Agartala: The Tripura Yuva Federation (TYF) on Friday submitted a deputation to the Director of the Tribal Welfare Department, protesting the eviction drive carried out by the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) against tribal vegetable vendors in Nandannagar.

In the deputation, TYF raised concerns over the eviction of the tribal vendors, who had been running their businesses in the area, and sought the department’s intervention into the matter. Representatives of the organisation held discussions with the Director on the issue, along with several other matters concerning the welfare of tribal communities in the state.

TYF members said the eviction drive had left the affected vendors, many of whom depend on their small businesses for daily livelihood, in a difficult situation. They urged the department to look into the matter and ensure that the interests of tribal vendors are protected.

The organisation is learnt to have raised additional demands during the meeting, though further details on the specific issues discussed were not immediately available.

Officials at the Tribal Welfare Department are yet to respond formally to the deputation submitted by TYF.
