Kakraban: Acting on a tip-off, Kakraban police detained three youths along with 9.42 grams of heroin during an operation in the Hadra-Samatal Para area, police said. A battery-operated auto-rickshaw (TR-03-D-3656) and a motorbike (TR-03-N-6986) were also seized from the spot.
Officer-in-Charge Gopal Shukla Das said two of the detained youths have been identified as Arjun Ali, an auto-rickshaw driver from Samatal Hadra, and Alamgir Hossain of East Palatana. The identity of the third youth is expected to be established during the course of investigation.
SDPO Debanjali Roy visited the spot and later the police station after being informed of the recovery, as investigation into the case got underway.
However, Arjun Ali’s wife has disputed the police’s version, claiming her husband was detained on false charges and that no drugs were recovered from him. The conflicting claims—between the police’s recovery account and the family’s counter-allegation—are now expected to be examined during the probe.
Police sources said the detained youths will be produced before the court on Saturday, where further details are likely to emerge.
