New Delhi/Agartala: Former Tripura Chief Minister and current MP Biplab Kumar Deb has been appointed as one of the BJP’s national general secretaries, as part of a major organisational reshuffle unveiled by party president Nitin Nabin on Monday.

The new central team includes 13 national vice presidents, eight national general secretaries and 16 national secretaries, among other office-bearers. Along with Deb, former Union minister Smriti Irani, Sunil Bansal, Vinod Tawde and Satish Poonia are among those named national general secretaries, while B L Santhosh has been retained as National General Secretary (Organisation).

Union Minister Piyush Goyal has been appointed the party’s national treasurer, while Ram Madhav and Vasundhara Raje Scindia feature among the new national vice presidents.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the newly appointed office-bearers, saying the new team combines organisational experience, energy and grassroots connect, and expressed confidence they would strengthen the party’s work.
