Agartala: Pabiyachhara MLA Bhagaban Das laid the foundation stone for a modern market shed at Machmara Krishnatila, under Pabiyachhara Assembly constituency, fulfilling a long-pending demand of local traders.
The market shed is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 2 crore 30 lakh and is expected to significantly improve the trading environment for vendors and shopkeepers in the area.
Once completed, the facility will provide traders with a more developed, safe, and well-planned space to conduct their business, replacing the existing arrangements that have long been considered inadequate.
Local traders had been demanding a proper market infrastructure for a considerable period, citing the need for better facilities to carry out their daily commercial activities. The foundation-laying ceremony was seen as a significant step towards addressing these concerns.
Speaking on the occasion, the MLA underlined the government’s commitment to strengthening local economic infrastructure and improving livelihoods for small traders and vendors across the constituency.
Officials said the construction work is expected to proceed in a phased manner, with authorities aiming to complete the project within a stipulated timeframe, thereby enabling traders to operate in improved conditions at the earliest.
