Agartala: Arabinda Sangha marked a triple celebration on Friday, hosting a special programme at its premises to observe India’s 80th Independence Day, Sri Aurobindo’s 155th birth anniversary, and the Sangha’s own 72nd foundation day. The event forms part of a fortnight-long calendar of social and cultural programmes the organisation has drawn up to jointly commemorate the three occasions.
A voluntary blood donation camp was held alongside the main function, drawing participation from residents and Sangha members.
Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha attended the programme as chief guest, joined by Agartala Mayor Deepak Majumder, MLA Meena Rani Sarkar, and Corporator Alok Roy. Noted social worker Shyamal Kumar Dev and Arabinda Sangha secretary Supriya Ghosh were also present, along with other office-bearers of the Sangha and several dignitaries.
Organisers said the foundation day event and blood donation camp were conceived as part of the wider fortnight of activities, timed deliberately to bring together the spirit of national independence, Sri Aurobindo’s legacy, and the Sangha’s own institutional history under one commemorative banner.
