KAILASHAHAR: A farmer from Baghachhara village under Dewrachhara ADC Village has alleged that Kailashahar police have refused to register his complaint, nearly a week after three of his cows died allegedly after consuming pesticide.
Innus Ali, who owns eight cows, said he found three of them dead and five others writhing in pain on a hillock area where he takes them to graze, with plastic bags containing pesticide found near the carcasses. He claimed he had encountered three named individuals carrying similar plastic bags at the spot shortly before the incident and named them in his written complaint to police.
Ali alleged that despite repeated visits to the police station over nearly a week, his case was neither registered nor was the spot inspected, and that police directed him to arrange the post-mortem himself at the animal hospital, where veterinarians said they required police authorisation to proceed.
With the carcasses reportedly left decomposing at the site for days, nearby residents have complained of a foul stench. Ali claimed local political pressure was behind the alleged inaction — a charge police have not yet responded to.
