Kamalasagar: All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) leader Pabitra Kar launched a sharp attack on the state government over the deepening distress among farmers, alleging that cultivators are being denied remunerative prices for their crops and adequate access to modern agricultural equipment.
Addressing a membership drive organised by the AIKS at Kamalasagar, Kar said farmers across Tripura continue to struggle despite repeated government claims of agricultural development. He alleged that crop prices remain stagnant and unremunerative, forcing many cultivators into financial hardship, while access to tractors, power tillers and other essential farm equipment remains limited, particularly for small and marginal farmers.
Kar called on the government to urgently address these gaps and demanded stronger procurement mechanisms, fair pricing structures, and improved distribution of agricultural machinery to farming communities across the state.
The programme was organised as part of the AIKS’s ongoing membership expansion drive in the Kamalasagar area, aimed at strengthening the organisation’s base among the farming community and mobilising support for its demands.
Local AIKS workers and farmers attended the event in large numbers, with several speakers echoing Kar’s concerns and reiterating calls for greater state support for the agricultural sector.
