Agartala: The All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA), East Agartala Area Committee, today submitted a memorandum to Assistant Engineer Nirmal Kanti Pal of the Tripura Jal Board sub-division, demanding immediate measures to address the persistent drinking water crisis affecting several parts of the city.
Speaking to reporters after handing over the memorandum, AIDWA leaders alleged that residents in multiple localities have been facing acute water shortages due to inadequate supply and damaged pipelines. They said the prolonged crisis has severely disrupted the daily lives of residents, particularly women, who bear the brunt of managing household water needs.
The organisation urged the Jal Board authorities to take prompt corrective action, including repair of damaged pipelines and steps to ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply across East Agartala and its adjoining areas.
AIDWA leaders further appealed to the media to highlight the issue so that the administration takes due notice and acts swiftly to resolve the hardships faced by residents.
The Assistant Engineer received the memorandum and assured that the concerns raised would be forwarded to the appropriate authorities for necessary action.
Residents have expressed hope that the intervention will lead to a lasting solution to the water crisis in the area.
