KADAMTALA: Students of Kalaganger Par School in Kadamtala block took to the streets on Tuesday, protesting against the school’s poor infrastructure, which includes an acute shortage of teachers and a lack of even basic seating arrangements for students.
According to reports, the school has been functioning without adequate teaching staff for a considerable period, severely affecting classroom instruction. Adding to the crisis, students have been forced to sit on the floor due to a shortage of benches, raising serious concerns about the state of learning conditions at the institution.
Frustrated by the prolonged neglect, students staged a demonstration demanding immediate intervention from the education department. As part of their protest, they locked the school gate, effectively halting normal functioning for the day.
The protest highlights a broader pattern of infrastructural deficiencies plaguing several government schools in the region, where shortages of teaching staff and basic furniture continue to hamper the quality of education.
Local residents and guardians have also voiced support for the students’ demands, calling on authorities to take swift action to address the shortfall of teachers and furniture before the situation further disrupts academic activities.
No official response from the education department had been received at the time of filing this report.
