SHANTIR BAZAR: Students of West Bokafa Higher Secondary School staged a sit-in protest on Monday, demanding the withdrawal of a transfer order issued for Bengali department teacher Subal Das.
According to sources, the transfer order sparked immediate outrage among students once news of it spread through the school. In protest, students shut the institution’s main gate and gathered outside, boycotting classes for the day.
The agitating students maintained a single demand throughout the protest — that the transfer order for their teacher, referred to affectionately as “Subal Sir,” be revoked. They further warned that failure to meet their demand would prompt a larger, more intensified movement in the coming days.
The protest, which brought normal academic activity at the school to a halt, continued through the day as students remained seated outside the gate. On receiving information about the demonstration, police personnel from Shantir Bazar Police Station arrived at the scene to monitor the situation.
As of the filing of this report, the protest was still underway, with no confirmation yet from education authorities on whether the transfer order would be reconsidered.
