SFI Sonamura Holds Victory March, Bursts Firecrackers Over Pradhan’s Resignation

Left student body links Union minister’s exit to nationwide student agitation

Sonamura: Members of the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) took to the streets in Sonamura in a celebratory mood after Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation, which the organisation attributed to pressure from the nationwide student movement.

The SFI Sonamura Divisional Committee organised a victory march to mark the development, following which members burst firecrackers and celebrated at the conclusion of the procession.

Addressing the gathering, SFI divisional secretary Anisur Rahman described the resignation as a victory for democracy, the Constitution, and lakhs of students across the country. He said the outcome demonstrated the strength of collective student resistance against what he termed government overreach on student rights.

Rahman further warned that similar student movements would be organised across the state and the country in future, should the government take actions perceived as infringing upon students’ rights.

The march saw participation from SFI cadres and supporters in the Sonamura area, with the organisation using the occasion to reaffirm its commitment to continued student activism on rights-related issues.
