AGARTALA: The Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee, NSUI and Youth Congress jointly organised a protest demonstration here on Wednesday against the alleged police lathi-charge on agitating students and youth, who have been protesting over 152 question paper leaks and examination irregularities, including in NEET and re-NEET, over the past 12 years under the Modi government.
Activists and leaders took out a procession through the city, which culminated near the Circuit House area, where the protesters joined the larger demonstration already underway demanding accountability from the central government over the recurring examination scams.
During the programme, protesters raised slogans against the Centre and burnt an effigy of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, holding him responsible for the alleged failures in curbing examination fraud and safeguarding the interests of students nationwide.
Leaders addressing the gathering alleged that successive paper leaks had jeopardised the future of lakhs of students and accused the government of shielding those responsible instead of taking corrective measures.
The protest reflected the growing resentment among the student and youth community over the issue, with organisers warning of further intensified agitation if the government continued to ignore their demands for transparency and accountability in the examination system.
