Heavy Police Deployment at Congress Bhavan Amid BJP Procession

AGARTALA: A heavy contingent of police personnel was deployed at Congress Bhavan on Wednesday in view of a BJP procession taken out in the city, as part of the party’s nationwide counter-mobilisation against Congress’s protests over Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi’s detention and the NEET-UG paper leak row.

Similar BJP marches were reported from several other states on the same day, with the party accusing Congress of pursuing “political disruption” rather than genuine concern for students. In Tripura, security forces took up position around Congress Bhavan as a precautionary measure to prevent any confrontation between the two camps.

Police officials said adequate deployment had been made to maintain law and order in the vicinity, with barricades put up at sensitive points near the party office. Traffic in the surrounding area was also regulated for the duration of the procession.

No untoward incident was reported by the time of filing this report, with officials stating that the situation remained peaceful throughout.
