AGARTALA: Preparations are underway for the seven-day traditional Kharchi Puja and fair, to be held at the Chaturdasha Devata Temple premises in Old Agartala from July 22 to July 28.
Ahead of the festival, West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar, along with Superintendent of Police Namit Pathak and other senior administrative officials, inspected the fairground on Friday.
During the visit, officials reviewed overall preparations for the fair, including security arrangements, traffic control, cleanliness, drinking water supply, power supply, and other visitor services.
The administration said all necessary arrangements are being made to ensure the Kharchi Puja and fair proceed smoothly, peacefully, and without disruption, given the large footfall the annual event traditionally draws.
The Kharchi Puja, one of Tripura’s most significant religious festivals, is held annually at the Chaturdasha Devata Temple and attracts devotees and visitors from across the state and beyond.
Officials said further coordination meetings involving various departments are expected in the coming days as the festival date approaches.
