Agartala:The Kokborok Sahitya Sabha (KSS) has announced that Tripura will host its first-ever Kokborok Book Fair from July 21st to July 23rd, 2026. The milestone three-day literary event will take place at the Dasaratha Deb Bhavan located in Supari Bagan, Agartala.
KSS President Ramesh Debbarma shared the event details during a press conference held at the Agartala Press Club. He announced that the Governor of Tripura will formally inaugurate the historic book fair. The primary objective of this exhibition is to preserve, promote, and enrich the Kokborok language, literature, and indigenous culture of the state.
The fair is expected to serve as a vital platform for indigenous writers, poets, researchers, and publishers to showcase their work. A diverse collection of books, including historic literature, folk tales, academic research, and modern poetry written in Kokborok, will be on display. Book publishers and tribal cultural organizations from various corners of the state are setting up stalls for the event.
In addition to book stalls, the organizers have planned a series of literary seminars, panel discussions on language development, and poetry recitation sessions during the three days. The event aims to inspire the younger generation to read and write in their mother tongue.
The Kokborok Sahitya Sabha has extended a warm invitation to students, intellectuals, literature lovers, and the general public to attend the landmark event and make the state’s inaugural indigenous book fair a grand success.
