Agartala:The Tripura Unit of the All India Lawyers’ Association for Justice (AILAJ) submitted a mass deputation to the Director General of Police (DGP) at the Police Headquarters, voicing grave concerns over rising crimes against women and children in the state.
During the demonstration, the association presented a detailed memorandum highlighting several pending and active criminal cases. They demanded immediate police intervention, faster investigation timelines, and stricter enforcement of laws to protect vulnerable citizens. The delegation emphasized that a rise in such offenses requires an urgent, institutional response from law enforcement.
The mass deputation included key members of the legal community and civil society. Prominent attendees included AILAJ State Convenor Advocate Mrinmoy Das and well-known social activist Swapan Banik. Notably, representatives from several affected families also joined the protest to demand justice for their loved ones.
The delegation urged the DGP to strengthen policing, speed up chargesheets, and establish safer environments across the state. Police officials acknowledged the memorandum and assured the team that appropriate legal actions and tracking of the highlighted cases would be prioritized.
